2 x 8 pin - cables

I have a gpu which requires 2 x 8 pin.

I have 2 cables both with 1 x 6 pin 1 x 8 pin.

i'm powering the card with 2 cables plugged into the PSU and using the 8 pins of each cable.

I noticed asus provided a 6 to 8 pin adapter - whats that for?

If you check your 8 pin connector, you will see that the extra 2 pins just piggy back off 2 of the other 6 pins and basically, that 6 to 8 pin is doing the same thing.

so.. in simple terms can i use a single power cable (1x6 + 1x8) attach the 8 pin then attach the adapter to the 6pin to give me 8 pins? sooo confusing! :)

just want to know if i can only use one PSU able vs 2.

I would always be a little cautious of a PSU that isn't able to run 2x8 pin connectors. Too many times people skimp on the PSU (not saying you have) and find themselves having issues.

What make of PSU is it? And if it is a decent one, no probs using that 6 to 8 pin converter.

What PSU is it exactly?
You need to check how many rails and how many watts per rail etc.

Even then, i personally would not use a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter when the PSU itself has 2 native 8-pin's available
