I have had my old trusty e6600 for 4 years now , chugging away at 3.4 GHz, along winth a gainward factory clocked 4780x2 . It still plays most games maxed out at 1920 x 1200 .
Up untill i bought this cpu i usually upgraded every 12 to 18 months (good old moors law :D) . I want to upgrade becouse i hav`nt for ages and am getting withdrawlls :D.

Now my question .... Will a new quad core clocked to 4 ghz and a new 6 serise amd gpu double framerates or somewere near ????

I know its not an exact science , but you get my drift . I dont benchmark or buy for the sake of it ( allough i love new kit) . just feel an upgrade is in order.

What do you rekon. For gaming is it really worth a £600 + upgrade at the moment ???

If it's playing all your games ok then obviously it's not worth paying for an upgrade at the moment but that's not really what this is about is it?

Your right obviouslly , just trying to talk myself into some new bits :D

Also trying to get to 100 posts before i order ;)

I sometimes feel like buying new parts too - truth be told - but my old machine with a slightly overclocked Q6600 and the old mid level graphics card plays everything on my monitor maxed out. So what is the benefit of buying new parts?

A wise man once told me - buy according to your needs - not what's new.

Double - probably not. You will see a nice improvement though.

What are you playing at the moment?

All sorts . A lot off lockon2, black shark and IL2. Also many rts`s like TOW . And i play a lot of Fps`s . so basically if you can play it , i Do :D

AS a note : I just brought NFS shift from gamers gate only a tenner ... WHat pants that is :( . Oh yeh i also play rfactor ....)
