Hi all,

Just bought 2 of these cards and just 'assumed' my PSU was up to the job! I havn't connected them yet, just in case. PC Components:

4 x SATA HDD
1 x IDE Optical
1 x Floppy
X-FI Pro
E6600 @ 3.5 (1.55v)
3 x 120mm case fans (Stacker 830)
Evercool VC-RF
several USB devices
Swiftech H20 120 Kit
4GB OCZ 8500 SLI

Is my Tagan 2Force 580 going to cope?

Any help appreciated,

PoDd :)

for safety's sake you would want a SLi compliant 800watt or higher i think.

although you would probably run ok on the 580, but there would be some serious heat and you may bork it woth continuous use.

Perhaps a silly question, why did you get 2 8800 GTSs?
I was thinking that. But then I thought, it wouldn't suprise me if 2x 320mb GTS's out-performed 1x GTX, for practically the same price ... it's benchie time! :p

yeah, they do asasuming you can get the sli profiles working perfectly for all games which in reality just doesnt happen lol

for 2xgts's 600w is enough. a 600w seasonic or 620w corsair would power that with ease.

Thanks for replying,

I bought these 2 320mb 8800 gts's for a few reasons:

I have a setup capable of sli, it cost a fortune, so why not make use of it. And having 2 cards is cool... (not a very good reason) ;)

2 of these should be MORE powerful than a single GTX (all things being equal, driver support, sli profiles etc etc.

The GTX is HUGE!

I got these for just a little more than the cost of a GTX.

I only game at 1680 x 1050 so don't need extra memory buffer.

I can always sell one, if i dont need the power.

So, do i need to change this PSU? Or should i give it a go? Anyone running this sort of setup on a PSU of this power or less?

PoDd :)

FYI:

Just out of interest, got this back from Tagan:

Hello,

"Thank you for your mail.

2x8800 GTS (sli) required around 300W from the 12V. The Max.ourput Power of the +12VDC from TG582-U22 is around 432W. So it is no problem to use the Tg580-U22 for 2x8800 GTS (Sli).

For the further questions please contact us!

Best regards,

Tech Tagan"

I'm happy with that, so time for some benchin'!! Any particular score requests?

PoDd :)
