Hey,

I happen to have two XFX R9 290's and a 7990.

I want to sell either the 7990 or R9 290's but want to keep the best performance.

I will run some benchmarks on both setup's and post them here.

I'm guessing the R9 290's will come out on top.

I wonder how the 2nd gen CPU running PCie 2.0 will affect performance ?

Also running two cards reduces the PCie Speed to 8x

PC Specs:

PSU: SilverStone Strider Plus 1000W (model SST-ST100-P)
Mobo: Asus SABERTOOTH Z77
Proc: Intel Core i7-2600K Processor
Socket - LGA1155
Mem: 16Gb
OS: 64-bit Windows 7
HDD: 120 GB OCZ-AGILITY3

PCIE Details

2 x PCi Express 3.0*/2.0 x16 slots (single at x16, dual at x8/x8)

*PCIe 3.0 Speed is supported by intel 3rd gen procs

Those reference cards need a clean though. :p

They were mining in my dusty garage for 6 months :)

Had 6 R9 290's and 3 7990's

It paid for the hardware :)

Back to benchmarking ! :P

7990 BF4 not looking good on 14.6 - Crashing all the time.

Have you tried the 290s on 14.6 yet, my cards run very well on those drivers.

im using 14.4 drivers with my 7990, had no problems with any game, but i cant monitor my FPS in BF4 with mantle :(

im not sure its worth the extra for me to get two R9 290's over my current 7990, price vs performance is not large enough for me to justify it

sweet, do i thin just run the game as normal? anything else i have to do first?

Yeah run as normal. Open it with notepad if you want to tweak the settings. You can alter the frame pacing method, (2 is stock and default, has a larger fps hit. I use method 1. 0 disables it) performance overlay, renderer overlay and the fps counter.

1= Enable
0= Disable
