Hi, I have some questions:

1. I'm currently on the XBox Live Gold service and paid for 3-months using my card. It is due renewal next month and I would like to stop using the Gold service and downgrade to Silver, because uni is starting again so I won't have time to play online. However, I cannot seem to find a 'change to Silver membership' option anywhere on the dashboard?

2. How do I move everything from my 64MB memory card to my 20GB hard drive? Again, I cannot seem to find a 'copy to HDD' option anywhere under 'Memory'.

Many thanks

1) Once the sub card expires it should default to silver, that's what my yearly sub did when it ran out.

They just rebilled me so I'd be careful, best thing is call MS to make sure they do not rebill you.

As for the memory card to HDD copy there is something in the system blade for managing the storage devices and you can copy between the two.

Sorry I can't be more help than that as I'm at work and can't tell you exactly what to do but it is there somewhere.

Nope you need to phone Microsoft to cancel the subscription otherwise it will auto-matically take payment, and if it doesnt receive payment it will ban you.
Absolutely ridiculous I know but its happend to various people on here and recently to my mate, he tried ringing Mircosoft to unban it and they refused saying it was impossible and he needed to make a new Gamertag! Even though he was willing to buy another 12 months. This all happened after his card expired and he forgot to add his new one.

For the Memory card
-Go to the Memory section
-Select your Memory card
-Then you will need to move everything 1 by 1, by selecting the item, select 'move' and then select your harddrive.

Well I was using a 12 month sub card, so it makes sense that they didn't re-bill me.

If you paid for the current sub with a bank card, then that's a different story as I would expect it to auto-renew.

I use subscription cards, cheaper ;)
My first year cost me £32, and my second year which I put on the other day was only £28 :D

I may be calling ms to get them to take my card off to stop me from impulse spending on XBLA games, lol!

And to think, if you paid with plastic and the card expired and they banned your account, you'd lose access and have to rebuy all your content! Scary thought that everything we buy on the marketplace is stuck on the console, reliant on your gamercard matching the original downloader.

Ok, I'll phone them up when I can. I just hope they don't think I want to stop using my XBox Live account altogether! I still want to use it, but only the Silver membership...

I also have an XBox Live 1 month Gold membership card which came with my console when I sent it back for repairs. I may use it sometime and thus why I want to keep my XBL account alive.

Happened to my bro, his debit card expired and so his account got banned. Spoke to some miccysoft bod and told him to go buy a pay as you go card and add that to the account. It basically unbans the account and it even allows new credit card details into it now.

Richie.
