20.1"Widescreen or 19" normal TFT?

Hello all,
I am new here and I am really confused.I am trying to decide for the last 2 weeks what monitor to buy and the more I search,the more confused I get.I now have a 17" CRT and I am either buying a 20.1" Widescreen or a 19" normal TFT.I do all kinds of stuff,gaming and movies mostly aswell as surfing many hours on the Internet.I would go with the WS-but it seems like these monitors aint compatible with a lot of games and that is holding me back.The games I am playing atm are compatible with WS resolutions,except Fifa WC 2006.I have also heard that in terms of height,the 20" WS is the same as a 17" TFT.So far I am between the LG 19'' L1970H-BF(normal) and the LG 20'' L203WT-BF(wide).I am not trying to decide which model to buy,but what type of monitor will be the best for me.Any info will be appreciated.

Im in the same boat as you and looking to get a 19" normal or widescreen and at the moment from what ive been reading that widescreen is the way to go. Im finding it abit easier as im stuck to a budget so limited to what i can afford but I can get a 19" WS for the same price as a lot of normal 19". Ofcourse that only limits me to like 2 WS models but aslong as they do the job I dont mind.

Has everything about widescreens from games that are supported, to hacking the ones that arent and all the monitor info you could want.

Also a site you can compare sizes and viewable area if it helps. You can type in whatever you want.

Having never owned a widescreen monitor before, or even a TFT (im a CRT gamer) ive been looking a lot into a TFT widescreen as its a big step but most replys have been to go for it, but just keep it in line with my graphics card. So a 19" widescreen 1440x900 is going to be decent for me. Depends on your budget and graphics card aswell I guess

Thanks for the re reply Bowlo,if I go with the WS i guess that resolution wont be a problem,I currently have an ATI RX800XL 256,AMD 64 3500 and 2Gb of Ram.
