Hi,

I am thinking of purchaing a iMAC.

I have never used a MAC before, but how will I find it over windows?

Also, is it a good time to buy a new machine, or are Apple releasing new models in the near future?

Thanks

If I were you I'd really wait until September / even mid September.
It is rumoured that they are going to update their Macbook Pro's and Macbooks - maybe both. So there is a chance of Apple updating the iMacs a bit [processor maybe?]

I would wait just a little bit to be on the safe side, September is coming soon.
But if you really are desperate...

Hi,

Thanks for comments.

I am going to hold on then :)

Does it really sound like Apple are going to do a refresh of the iMAC then?

Thanks

P.S - Does Apple do quite a big event for September normally?

I don't think they'll upgrade the iMac's in September to be honest, when the expo does come around I believe they'll be focusing on iPhone sales etc + extras and a refresh of their laptops.

New platforms for both Pro and MacBook (with new design). Also an updated MacBook Air.

If the spec is fine for you, get it.

I'd say yes, defo get one. OS X is much easier, and takes probably a day of use to get used to things.

If you are one of those people who has to have the latest and greatest and don't mind waiting then seeing what is available next month is an option.

Otherwise just go for it, whatever the spec now it will still be a great machine.

Btw its iMac and Mac (As apposed to iMAC and MAC) but that's just being picky... The guide in 2nd post is a good guide but its hard to tell however they did only just release iMac's back may, I always say if you're happy with it at the time then it shouldn't matter if some thing new comes out later, your machine doesn't become insta-crap because its not the latest thing and you can do what I did which is decided on what I wanted then waited the the new model and bought it on release day top spec and it will last years. Get Applecare though!

I've been using a 7 year old power mac g4 just to get used to leopard and now i'm waiting on my shiny 24'' iMac to be delivered next week sometime!

Go for it. if you like it and want one then buy it and be happy that's what i did
