Since they have introduced these stupid stm hours i want to get out of cable, i signed up to 20 meg last November, now when i signed up there was no such stm in place only the 4-9 pm one which i was happy with so does this mean i can get out of my contract with the new one they put in place ?

Be unlmited enabled are exchange a few weeks ago so i could jump onto them and going off these forums it seems they pretty damned good.

The specific details of STM are not covered in the terms and conditions, only that "(Virgin) reserve the right to monitor and control data volume and/or types of traffic". So from Virgin's point of view changes to STM don't result in a change to the terms and conditions of your contract. Whether that's reasonable and whether you have any legal recourse against it I don't know. But chances are the only "easy" way for you to get out of contract will be to pay a cancellation fee, which could be around £100 - retentions will be able to tell you how much.
