Now my new PC is up and running, I am enjoying gaming again. I currently use a Viewsonic 19" CRT and i am seriously considering going widescreen LCD, especially as the Viewsonic has developed an annoying buzz. Now I have a card worthy of a bigger screen, I was looking at between 20 & 22 inches.

In the 20" bracket, The popular choice would seem to be the Dell 2007WFP. Should I be looking at anything else?

I am trying to avoid TN, unless you can convince me otherwise. I Purchased some Dell Ultrasharp 1908FP`s for work. They are OK, but not great tbh. (I mistakenly thought the "ultrasharp" got me a better panel)

The HP and Samsung 22 inchers look like a lot of screen for the money, and i am tempted at being able to run the same res, but easier on the eyes.

If coming from a crt, will i be disappointed with a TN panel? Would an S-IPS/PVA be a better choice?

Example games I play are, DiRT, Sega Rally, Pro Evo, Tiger woods, Splinter Cell....etc. Not into FPS much. May dabble hare and there, but thats it.

PC is also used for some image editing and Quark documents, as well as everyday use.

I have browsed on here and done panel searches on TFT Central. If you DON`T want a TN, It seems choice is pretty limited.

Budget is around £250 :)

shame about the budget, or you could have considered the very good, and popular, NEC 20WGX2 in the 20" market. S-IPS and VA panels are certainly much more rounded than TN Film, but if you are concerned, you could maybe go to a high street store and see a typical TN Film panel in action. take note of the viewing angles, that's the main obvious difference in practice. Dell 2007WFP would be a good bet. There aren't any 22" non-TN Film panels available yet. If you decide you atre fine with TN Film, the Samsung SM226Bw / SM2232BW would be worth a look, very popular and well established models

Thanks Baddass. Budget could stretch a little :D

I plan on keeping it a while, so i want to get this right. I would rather spend a bit more and get something i am happy with.
