Ok ive scanned through this forum countless times, read everyones opinions about the best 20"+ LCD goin and im still not sure what to go for....it will be purely for gaming...oh and using office software for buisness :)

NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 20.1" Widescreen LCD
Obiously one of the more exspensive models..and widescreen for gaming?...worth it?

or the 22"

Viewsonic VX2235wm 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor
widescreen again slightly cheaper and larger, dont think i can fit 24" on my desk.

I do apologise if this has been asked many times but its been so long since i bought a monitor(hansol 710D) i wont be buying a new for a long time again :)

thanks in advance

I went for the Samsung 215TW so I could run it in portait mode for documents , it makes an A4 page life-size :)

Tricky one. I'd certainly consider the Dell 2007WFP (at the TWO price) and the Samsung 215TW mentioned above as the other stand-out screens in the sector.

The viewsonic is TN, so to have that extra 2 inches you are sacrificing viewing angles and colour reproduction. The other three, the NEC, Dell and Samung, are better quality panels with better viewing angles and true 16.7 M colours. There's no doubt the extra 2 inches makes a big impression, especially for gaming, but can you live with the inferior viewing angles?

Also if you are considering TN 22" then there's the Samsung SM225BW to look at.

If it was my money I think I might go for the 21" Samsung 215TW. My budget is £300 though so next week I'll be getting the Dell :)

i thought the dell and nec were the same panel , i wuld love to know what panel is the best , i dont hear much problems with the dell , however the nec seems to be falling apart! i thought nec were high quality manus?
since i will be ordering a screen 20 ws next month i would like to know if the nec is better than the dell , picture quality wise?
and if it is worth the £70 more?

I'm in the same boat. Look for a widescreen gaming/desktop monitor for around £300. So far I have narrowed it down to:

Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor
IMO aesthetically the best design. However the panel lottery is a concern and Dell's random fluctuating pricing is annoying.

NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor
Slightly too pricey and I really need to see that glossy screen in the flesh first - I have quite a sunny room.

Samsung SM-225BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor
The size is tempting, but why can't we have the black one? The stand looks a bit pants too.

Viewsonic VX2235wm 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor
Again, liking the size, but reports of dead/stuck pixels is rather off putting.

Decisions, decisions...

Another option is the Gateway FDP2185W , it uses the same TFT panel as the Samsung 215TW and is £299 from an Office superstore. I would have bought it instead of the 215TW but I'm a bit of a Samsung fanboy :o

Ohh, that's a new one I haven't heard of before. 12 month warranty is a major downer but it has very good specs just like the Samsung.

I just received my NEC monitor today to go with my new X1900 and it is gorgeous. I've been a die hard CRT fan before but this has won me over. It is good to look at, it is good for text display.. And I've just been having a bash at some wide screen Company of Heroes and CS:S and it runs it perfectly:D

Can't recommend this monitor enough!

I quite like the glossy screen, makes it look a lot better than other TFTs in my oppinion. I have a sunny room so I will see how it goes when I'm next at home during the day.. No doubt it will be better than my old CRT.

Had the same choice last week & went for the Dell 2007WFP,the height adjustment swung it for me,very happy with it :D

Great value screen that LG but it is TN so the viewing angles won't be great, hence the price. Interesting that in the review they didn't like the Digital Fine Contrast mode (which in theory gives the screen a contrast ratio of 2000:1) and turned it off.

ANY product sold in the EU has a 2 year manufacturers warantee by order of the EU!! Not many people know this, so shock your shop guys when they try to make you pay for another year!

Self same store has dumped it from stock, was only available in two locations both over 200 miles from me when I checked it out.
