20 thousand zone MiniLED and 5000 nits

Here is Vincent discussing TCL's new TV and he's showing the smaller version which contains 5000 dimming zones and a peak brightness of 5000 nits.

But TCL is also launching a 115 inch version of this TV and in that size it has 20 thousand dimming zones and also a larger percentage of screen can maintain 5000 nits

The brightness wars are surely just the next 3D wars i.e. completely pointless and used to try and sell new stuff to people that don't need or want it

Be interesting to see how these manage at low (normal) levels of light. Wonder if they'd be stable if your brightess is set to 10%?

Think I'll sit on OLED until we see how microLED pans out. If something comes out that's a lot better than my Sony OLED I will be impressed.

Exactly - these TV’s are too bright. I think a lot of people are going to have problems with their eyes in years to come…
