Hi, I'm trying to get 1440x900 and 1280x800 to work on my Viewsonic VX2025wm. I've tried adding them through the nvidia control panel but it just says 'The custom resolution cannot be added'. I am using a tweaked nvidia driver but I wouldn't have thought that it would be the problem.

If anyone can help me with this i'd be really grateful as my PC struggles with the native res of 1680x1050.

Cheers.

In games you can just select what res you want to in the options. Out of games your pc shouldnt be struggling with any res on the desktop.

its always best to run the monitor at its native res or picture quality will suffer.
if it struggles, then you shouldn't have really gone for a 20in or you can upgrade the rest of the PC so it will run at 1680x1050

I can't select the resolutions I want in games, if I could I wouldn't be trying to add them.

Upgrading my hardware is certainly an option, but I'd like to see if I could run these unsupported resolutions first if only the nvidia control panel would let me.

Most games have an .ini file in the documents folder or the installation folder that let you enter a custom resolution.

Thanks for the replies. As for the .ini trick, I tried that and it wouldn't work which is why I tried to add the custom resolutions. Just wondering if anyone with a vx2025wm has managed to get custom resolutions to work?

If you using the latest nvidia drivers then you have to use the new control panel to do custom resolutions. For some reason it does not work via the "classic" control panel anymore.
