I'm looking to upgrade the GPU in my PC as it's getting on a bit.

Intel i7 950
Gigabyte X58 motherboard
24GB of RAM :D
ATI 6950 2GB
Corsair 750W PSU.
24" 1920x1200 monitor.

It's either ATI 480 8GB or Nvidia 1060 6GB, they're both around the same price.

The 1060 seems to be the faster card, until Vulkan is considered. Also the sync system as I beleive ATI have more open source type of v-sync monitor connection though not sure about that haven't read much into it.
 
I think he means ATI offer performance increases on older products. saying that ATI seem to drop support for older GPU's. I still think 6950 should be still supported (they dropped support for it)

Did a quick search for shadowplay . Not intersted in that.
