Hey all, i'm going to beef up my current system a bit before I decide to buy a whole new system, i'm going to move to PCI-E, but i'll be keeping my IDE Hard drive and CD Drives, at least for now, so i'll need a new motherboard, case, cpu and gfx card, I do play a lot of games, but i'm not one for mega high resolutions, i'm quite happy playing on 800x600 or 1024x768 if it's very smooth, as long as I get that smooth fps drop free experience, remember I probably wont be overclocking it, it's just a temporary solution and to make it more future proof for when the next person has this PC, Many Thanks to whoever can help :)

That system should be capable of playing just about any game maxed out however you may need a new PSU to handle it, if so you should swap the 3850 for something less expensive such as a 2600.

This might do you, I'm assuming your Ram isn't DDR2 so you'll need some and also note that you can only use two IDE devices as it will only have one IDE port.

Very nice specs, thanks guys, i'm guessing the 3850pro will run games just fine at 1024?, upon investigating (as i've only really looked at Nvidias lately), it seems to handle most games at even higher than that just fine, so with those specs the games should be fine at 1024? Many Thanks for the help though :)

Ok thanks for the help then ;D, but the The OcUK Value IP35 Pro Intel P35 Motherboard sounds good, but it only has one Sata II Port, and what is an eSata port? as of course i've never really looked into that, as that motherboard does sound like the better one, but with only one Sata II port, that could be a problem if I want a few devices connected

Alright Many Thanks for the help everyone, but I noticed that Antec NSK 4480B Mini Tower Case (Black) - 380W Earth Watts PSU, comes with a PSU, is this PSU any good? or should I look to buy another PSU? if so I have no problem adding that price on top, as a good PSU is vital, Many Thanks to whoever can help :D

I included the NSK 4480B partly because it has a PSU that should run all those components fine but if you wanted to buy a separate PSU such as a Corsair then you could buy a slightly cheaper case.

just a quick question about the recomendations.
is the OcUK value board a better choice than the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35 board?

better overclocking?

juct asking before i buy :)

Yeh I just wanted to make sure it was up for the job, maybe you just particularly liked that case :p, and Was's question is also a good one, how does the motherboard stack up against the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35?

Both are based on the P35 chipset so in theory will achieve much the same sort of speeds I'd imagine, both also use solid capacitors so there shouldn't be any longevity issues on that front either.

From a quick glance the OcUK one might have a couple more SATA ports, it does have an extra PCI-E slot and supports dual gigabit lan but if none of those things matter to you then you might as well simply toss a coin. :)
