£200 to spend.
Want a minimum of a 22" screen.
Will be used for gaming occasionally (mostly use my HDTV) but I'm currently using a 5yr old 19" sharp on VGA which i'm extremely happy with quality wise so my standards aren't too high.

But viewing angles i am quite picky with. so that's the priority.

thanks

I bought the Yuraku.
felt like it was made from cardboard, the trim was falling off and worst of all it was DOA.

My friend has a working one and its a nice screen, but I would rather not take the risk on something so badly made. Plus I would like a monitor that looks good too.

Hi there

Unfortunately all 22" panels are TN based apart from 1-2 very expensive none TN based models which are more like £400.

You either need to look at high-end 20" models which tend to be over £200 or 24" sector but again good viewing angles means an PVA, IPS type panel and generally they are expensive unless you buy one built to lower standards.

With monitors you get what you pay for, some are better bargains than others but its generally a case the more you spend the better the quality.

TBH, I think you're being impossibly picky. Other than the Yuraku you will not get a 22" or larger screen with good viewing angles for £200. You'll have to drop down to 20" or find more cash. Or maybe trawl EBay for something used.

I'd really urge you to try another Yuraku - it sounds like the one you got had been badly treated. The first Yuraku I bought was DOA, but I got another and it worked fine. Then bought another one, and it's also working fine. They've both been lugged about to LAN parties and stuff and survived just fine.

Gateways 21/22" moniters are S-PVA (hence why i got mine ) think the samsung 215TW was the same i think but thease are old moniters and so only see them tease days 2nd hand

I know I'll have to get a TN panel if i get a 22" and I know they're viewing angles are bad.
But what i should have asked is what 22" TN monitor has the best viewing angles for under £200.

Admittedly I've been eying up the Yuraku again. But only if there is absolutely no decent alternative.

Hi there

They are all TN so they are all as bad as each other. :p

Seriously between the different models the viewing angles don't differ much at all.

Like Gibbo says 22" monitors are all much the same as regards viewing angles. All but the stupidly expensive ones use very similar TN panels, which is why the manufacturers are trying to differentiate their products by looks and features rather than anything to do with image quality.
