Can someone help me build a £200 computer? I don't need a big hard drive, something like 160 or 320 should be fine. I'd need everything inside the comp, no software/OS and no keyboard/mouse/monitor or anything. I basically just need it to play Counter Strike and I want it to be running smooth for everything else

basically - just a £200 rig!

If you can get the extra £50 then i might be able to lower the price, at the cost fo a worse CPU? and if you have any DDR2/3 ram lying around then you can use it on this MOBO as it supports both, and i would save you some money,,

Have you considered something second hand like maybe a core 2 duo e8400? That may keep you below the £200 mark.

Much better mobo, integrated gfx will be fine, 4 gig of RAM, whilst I dont normally recommend own brand PSUs, it will be fine for a low power draw machine such as this, 211

AMD Athlon II X3 Tri Core 445 3.10GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £56.99
Asus M4A88T-M AMD 880G (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard £53.98
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Ultra Low Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1333C9ELV4GK) £31.99
OcUK Hades Micro ATX Tower Case - Black (450W PSU) £27.56
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (ST3250318AS) £26.99
Samsung SH-S223C/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £13.99
Total : £211.50

Thanks a lot for the recommendations guys! I'll look around for a little more today before settling on something though, any more suggestions would be appreciated.

If your on that budget! I'd go second hand, since sandy bridge has come on the scene there will be loads of people jumping on the band wagon and there'll be lots of decent second hand buys going. That's what i would do! You could always buy a new case to give it a brand new look!

Really i would say save up a little bit?

i have a second hand system for sale at that price that would be more than enough to run counter strike on max.

tell me if your interested

I'm not sure if I'd wanna save up for a while, it's not necessarily a lack of money, just I don't think the stuff I use my computer for would really warrant spending more than that on it.

I have another computer with a 2.2GHz dual core AMD processor and 2GB of ram and a ATI Radeon 4300/4500 (512mb I think) and that runs fine for me, pretty much, and basically I want something that would be better than that if I could get it for around £200, and it looks like the specs people have given me so far seem fit for the job - unless anyone thinks it wouldn't be better.

I'm not after something insane since I don't play any games or anything, so, I don't think I really need to spend more than that, unless anyone thinks otherwise?

And I don't really think I'm up for 2nd hand, for whatever reason

Thanks a lot for the replies guys - I bought all my parts, mainly following some of the specs you guys listed but I swapped a couple things. Thanks! I ended up pushing over to £240, though.
