hey guys.

I'm extremely confused as to what to get for a new monitor, i have one or two options.

I can spend around £200 ex VAT on a monitor, but unsure what to get, most of you recomend the ViewSonic VX922 which is within my price range. i'll mostly be using the monitor for (in order) coding/movie/tv download and dvd viewing/gaming.

I notice with the VX922 that the contrast is only 650:1 would it not be better to go for the slightly darker of the Hyundai ImageQuest N91W or even the NEC MultiSync® 90GX2. I also notice that LG offer monitors with a 2000:1, since i enjoy watching movies a lot would these be better choices? though i am an avid fan of playing FEAR and HL2.

I must admit when i watch movies i normally watch from my bed so i'm looking at prolly being 3 or 4meters away.

i'm wondering though if it's worth getting a 20" model thats in my price range.

my other option is, i can get Dell monitors stupidly cheaply direct from dell in asia for £200/£300 cheaper i'm wondering if it's worth paying £300 for a Dell 2407, it would be used in this country and as i'm not a citizen i wouldn't pay import duty.

any thoughts.

i don't think dell do international warranties, thats my only concern, as if it goes **** up i'm left with something i could use as a chalkboard or a serving tray or possibly a mirror

For £189 i dont think you can beat the LG L204WT 20" Widescreen. Its a TN panel with a 5ms response rate. Awesome for games, i love mine.
