As the title suggests, I'm looking for an AMD mobo, I was going to go with the i5 2500K etc but to get everything to compliment each other works out more money then an AMD build. Currently using a 550BE which can be unlocked, but my mobo doesnt support 125w. The new mobo would need to support BD as I will either get that or 1100T (depends on price) and SLI 2X16.

I could push £240 with a cpu cooler aswell.

That is because at the moment the 2500k will destroy an AMD setup.

Probably not what you want to hear, but might be worth looking at? :)

I Know, but least if I go the AMD route I could build as I go. I don't think upgrading RAM on its own will boost my performance. Was going to sell my gfx card and get a 6950 but I know the 7 series is round the corner...grr im stuck

So i take it you have DDR2 RAM? If you have 4GB of DDR3 RAM that's ample for gaming no need to buy more if you wont use it.

It's really comes down to wether you are a gambling man ;) You could opt for an AM3+ mobo and GAMBLE on it unlocking to a quadcore (this will need an aftermarket heatsink!). You are also gambling that bulldozer is atleast on par with sandybridge for the price you'll end up paying.

I'm currently waiting to see if my mobo will get BD support which won't happen till much nearer the release date. So I am waiting but if I was in your position I'd be tempted to buy an am3+ and gamble the "free" cpu upgrade......it worked out for me on my AM3 mobo ;)

well the cpu has been unlocked on another mobo so it should work on a new board. Just sucks my mobo at the moment can only support 95w (550 unlocked is 125w)

I like you was speccing up an AMD machine but kept getting annoyed at all the things I was missing out on with SB and the 2500k.
In the end I bit the bullet and decided to go with the i5 2500k.
A decent MB can be had for 110-130 and Ram is only 40 for 8gb of 1600mhz so you wold still have 30 quid change to buy a decent cooler.
