£200 For this?

* latest in the many threads i own read this instead*

as many of you may know, ive been looking about for cheap board that supports crossfire 16x in both sockets and supports am2 and am2+ and i found the Foxconn A79A-S, i also wanted to pair this with a Phenom 955, and i found someone the the bay willing to re list his kit for me when im ready, the kid consits of:

Foxconn A79A-S
Phenom II 955BE (Stock Cooler)
4GB DDR2 1066Mhz Crucial Ballistix Ram

For £200, is this a good deal? the guys claims he got the chip to 3.8Ghz easy which im guessing is true and it might just need a voltage boost,

so is this worth the money? seems a good deal to me as the rams £60 new and the boards about £70 and the 955 is £99

Though that is an "OK" deal. Isn't the 955 an AM3 socket CPU? Also if you look on the website for the Mobo it doesn't list it being able to handle and Phenom II processor.

Someone else please chime in and help him out a bit more. =)
 
am2+'s are am3? but the boards had bios updates and supports the 6 core pehnom 2's now, from their site:

the newest bios update:

:P 2 X16 PCI-E Lanes and 2X8 Lanes, so could whack 4 6950's in there all running at x8 lol :D
 
Still seems a little too much, when im sure you can get a DDR3 motherboard with 790GX/FX/890GX/FX chipset with DDR3 ram and the cpu for the same or less.
 
its not difficult to find 790FX/GX 890GX/FX motherboards is it?

Its not rocket science to go to the ASUS/Gigabyte etc websites and find out what boards have these chipsets then go from there.

thats why i chose the Foxconn,, i can get the board alone for £70 and i have 4GB ddr2 ram i can use, and i have a athlong 4400+ i can overclock the nuts out of but, if i buy the bundle i can have another PC spare which i despiratly need for when im at my dads,,
 
I got the much newer, better A7DA-S 3.0 for £55 new for heavens sake!

I only paid £195 for a 955BE, mobo, 4GB GeIL Value Plus and a Coolermaster Hyper 212+ - and since then prices on ram and the 955 have dropped!

where'd you get that from :O can only find these boards for £85... which still doesnt make it as cheap as the deal i found,
 
well, can get 4GB XMS3, the Asus M4A79XTD EVO and the pehnom 955 for an amazing £205 new, with delivery, thanks for the help guys, appreciate it sooo much! :D
