So, some of you may or may not have seen some time ago I was trying to put together a PC for my Sons, they had pooled their money together up to a total of £200 but needed some help to build the best gaming rig they could for what they had.

Thanks to the generosity of the forum and some people willing to do awesome deals allowed me to put together a half decent build for them, and just wanted to outlay a quick thread on here to say thanks and log it all really. Some items we bought new as we wanted the boys to feel as though they were owning a new PC, even though they knew best value would come from used parts.

So, we obtained;

From Facebook a 23" 1080p Monitor for £20
From Ebay a used Corsair 650W TX PSU £32
i7 860 / Maximus III Formula Mobo / 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 £Donated by Generous Forum Member
MSI AMD 7970 OC £55 - (Used - OCUK Forums)
500GB 7200 RPM HDD £10 (OCUK Forums)
Brand New Keyboard £8.95
CIT Hero Case £24 (New)
Raijintek Rhea Heatpipe CPU Cooler £13.29 (New - OCUK)
USB Wireless Adapter £13.99
Extra 92mm fan for rear of case - £4.99

=£182.22

The donation of CPU, RAM and Mobo allowed us to buy some brand new parts and really bump up the performance of what was otherwise going to be a cheap i3 / Core 2 Quad build, but overall, I, and the boys are really pleased with what has been accomplished, it is a powerful little beast for under £200 and plays everything they need/want, Just goes to show what an awesome forum/community this is here.

Will be putting up a benchmark or 2 just to give some comparative performance figures another time when im more awake.

Quick Pic (Told the missus off for putting the PSU against the Screen!):

Oh and the Computer Desk was a freebie on Facebook too so bonus all round.

That is brilliant - it will hopefully serve as a great entry point for your kids into an absorbing hobby.

Well done to everyone involved, this is a great community forum. That PC is a lot more capable than my first pc (386 dx33, no sound, 15" vga monitor!) I know your boys must love it
