£200..spec me an upgrade.

Guys i have just been doing some more research and came across the Hybrid hard drives? SSD with a lot more capacity.
The prices are similar but for around 100 you can get 500gb Hybrid instead of 60gb ssd.
Would one of these improve boot up speed of win 7,photoshop etc?

Well a few reviews i have read said it is good but they wouldn't have it over a 3.5 desktop drive?
Whats the opinions of it on here?

It may be a good idea in a few years time when the technology sorts itself out and performance improves, SSD's were similarly poor/expensive when they first came to market, but look at them now.

Well i already have 400gb of 500gb free on my C: and 100gb left on my backup.
So a 1tb isnt needed. Hence why i was looking at SSD.
I think i will go with that OCZ ssd then.

To save starting a new thread,
Guys its my birthday soon and so will have a bit of money to spend, I was thinking a GTX 460 but the games i play wont utilize it so i think i will go for a SSD.
Now when i asked a while ago a lot of you said Crucial C300 but i was just wondering if this is still the best for the money or if there is anything else on the horizon worth waiting for.

Bump,
My parents have just asked me for definite what i want for my birthday,
I am thinking SSD off them and then with the money from other relatives a new gfx card and the rest saved for Bulldozer.

Like i said earlier is the c300 still the way to go or should i be waiting for the next gen? (when is that lol)....
I also noticed the Hybrid Drives, the 500gb is particularly appealing as it is 440gb more than a SSD and still fast. Anyone used one of these? or should i stick with normal SSD.
Next question:
What graphics card? I have a 'Wanted' thread open now but nothing great has shown up so far. I was thinking 5770/GTX 460? I want to spend a max of £120 on a graphics card.

Summary: Best hard drive for £100 and best graphics card for £120 :)

Best graphics card for £120 is a GTX460

Hybrid drives suck.

wait for the crucial C400 SSD range.
 Damn your fast :p,
Just had a quick look and noticed the 5830 at £115? the GTX 460 i am assuming is better or did you not see it  :D
arr :(, what makes them bad?
Great, the c400 in my price range though? and when they expected to be out mate?

aahh ok cool will go for a GTX 460 then.
Now the hard drives, are the hybrids really that bad? because im thinking if sacrificing a few seconds gives me 8x the room then i will do it. But if they have problems with the SSD part then obviously there is no point.

The Crucial RealSSD C400 should be out in the next month or so. Also the new generation of Intel SSDs are coming out soon too (probably a similar time if not earlier). These are widely expected to be larger and cheaper than the current Intel second generation drives, perhaps even as close as £1/Gb hopefully.

Prices have jumped up a bit today. A 768Mb GTX 460 was £109 and that XFX 5830 was £107. May be worth waiting until tomorrow for a refresh of "this week only" deals.

ATI Radeon HD 5830 vs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 768MB

As you can see the GTX 460 performs a little better.

"MSI GeForce GTX 460 Cyclone 768MB NVIDIA Graphics Card" can be had for £107.35 inc delivery, which is an unbelievable deal from elsewhere.

I'd tell your parents to get this 460 and put the rest of your money towards a third generation SSD.

Here's a detailed review of that MSI card. MSI cards tend to overclock pretty well too, more than most so should be able to get it fairly high.

Thanks Shadow,
Well my birthday isn't until Feb so got time to wait for the SSD.
With regards to the GTX 460, with postage its £1 cheaper than OCUK :p
I will wait a little on the graphics card incase they come down seeing as the 560 is out now or don't it work like that?

We'll probably see them come down a little, not much tho. Generally they'll be considered end of line so most retailers won't be taking any more orders. Most will slowly disappear, a few retailers may have today only deals but not likely to see them below £100. Yeah fair enough about postage but you can get free postage from there too if you have 20 posts on another forum(s).
