£200 upgrade advice

Hi Guys,

I have recently purchased Age of Conan (AoC) and can happily run it on low settings, but it has made me realise it would be a good time to upgrade so i can enjoy the flashy graphics better, not only on this game but some other modern games. Does anyone have any advice on what upgrades i should get to better the performance. I want to keep the budget around £200. My current spec is listed below.

Q6600 processor
Abit IP35 motherboard
XFX 7800GT Graphics card
2GB ddr2 ram
2x Sata II harddisk 75gb and 250gb.
Seasonic 600 watt PSU
Creative X-Fi soundcard
1280x1024 Monitor.

Well if you want to upgrade, I would get a new graphics card. The new ones are out very soon now, wait a week or so and check them out. Secondly, you could upgrade your RAM by another 2GB, as its so cheap now.

Another thing, you have posted 15 times since 2005?! Thats amazing.
 
Do you think they offer a significant performance increase over current cards that are below £200? And if so, would the sell around this price too? I don't want to keep holding off for prices to drop as i am eager to enjoy better performance in games now.

Well from what i've heard yes. The 4850 is supposed to be cheap anyway, im guessing around £130-150. The ATi cards should be good value for money.
 
wait for the new cards, then pick up a 8800gts or a 9800 x2 depending how much of a price fall you see. Get an extra 2GB and maybe some extra cooling(if you need it) and overclock the q6600 to 3.2+
