Before I go any further I'll say that I'm a total novice when it comes to audio so apologies if I make any gaffs here or come across as stoopid :).

My current speakers have thrown in the towel so I need some new ones. I've got £200 MAX to spend and have been snooping around Richer Sounds and found these two:

TDL Saturn 10

Q Acoustics 1030i

Now I know that in an ideal world you'd spend probably twice that at least on decent speakers, but my system is pretty basic and I have no real need to spend more, I listen to music via my PC (already bought a half decent cable connecting PC to amp) and watch some films too.

Which of these two would you guys recommend? Or should I spend around £150 on some bookshelf jobbies and £50 on some stands instead?

Id stick with floorstanders
What amp do you have?
Would you be willing to go second hand? You can get some great speakers with £200 second hand
What 'half decent cable' have you got?
What soundcard? Or do you have a DAC
The amp is an old Sanyo (yeah I know) that was part of a hifi I've had for years. The CD and tape deck have long since gone, but the amp is decent enough to be honest, it weighs a ton and has always sounded good to me.

I've got a Creative X-Fi music sound card and a QED J2P cable connecting to the amp.

I wouldn't mind going 2nd hand, but I like the idea of having a warranty of some kind so would prefer new really.

I guess with floorstanders I'd have less need for a sub, and as I'm not planning on spending loads it makes sense for the speakers to have a bit more clout, which I guess floorstanders have over bookshelf ones?
