if u just slepped this in a stock i7 with no overclock would it still run 2000mhz or would it defualt to something less

sorry for the weird question i'm still learning about ram and timing and stuff

It will depend on your motherboard and the BIOS. If you have a memory multiplier higher than 14 then you can set 2000+ in the BIOS with the BClock at stock. But, I don't recall any boards having a multiplier higher than 14 so you will likely have to OC the BClock to 143 to hit 2000.

Make sure your mobo will run 2ghz RAM. Can't get mine to work.

There's also more sense having a decent set of 8-8-8-24 1600mhz stuff really.

Thanx for the info will help me decide on my board on ram when i upgrade
i currently use the pc 3200 value selct in the rig on my sig and it's very good performing slightly overclocked at 416mhz but still highly stable timings went to 2.5,3,3,7,10,1t tried setting them maually a few times but any adjustment results in a non post

If your going to run it at stock i would get 1600, Even if you set the mem multi @12 you will only get 1600.

Tbh if your not going to OC i wouldnt get the 920, OC is what they do :) There are better CPUs out there that are faster/better turbo boost etc.

yeah i will defo be overclocking it probably to around 3.6-3.8Ghz to start with as i'll be new to using intel's and newer stuff.
overclocking this 939 athlon is easy stuff up fsb and change the ram frequency and off we went.

i'm pretty sure the intel is gonna be a lot harder that that Blck is that what i'd call FSB,
