2005 Astra 1.6 chain or cambelt driven ?

As title suggests, car has done 55k and it hasnt been done yet according to the history. Although if its chain, then I guess there is no need. Unless its a known issue or something

Thanks

Its a belt, and it needs changing.

I believe no matter the engine it should have been done at 40k... get the water pump changed at the same time too as they tend to give up at around 60k and if it does then you will need yet another cambelt to get the water pump swapped as its the only way to access it :)

I think £200 is about the rate to get both suppled and fitted

Probably would have made sence for me to check the engine number wouldnt it. To save guessing lol

Ill have a look

Is it an Astra G or H?

The last of the Astra G's was fitted with the newer Twinport engine and all of the H's had the Twinport engine.

If its 1.6 8v Astra G it will be a belt.
