ive not got the handbook nearby at all.

anyone know exactly what this thing needs?

Aye, its usually Dexron 2/3 in most cars, but I'd double check, certain cars (newer VAG) use different stuff.

i texted a guy i know that works as a tech in dunton for development centre, despite the stuff in the reservoir being red and PAS fluid often being ATF, he was adamant it wasnt :S

I just put slick 50 power steering fluid in min and it worked fine...... might check now you have me paranoid!

Ford use a different spec than most other car makers and it isn't atf the only company I have found that make some to the right spec so far is millers oils and is called millermatic MDM.

I believe they use the same mineral oil based stuff as merc now, not entirely sure but its worth checking. we refilled a system wit hATf not realising the change and the pump constantly whined.

No merc use CHF fluid same as some of the modern bmws ford use the same spec as landrover.
