My MR2 Turbo is off the road for a while with terminal engine issues, so needed something to get by with for a while. Something reasonably cheap, practical would be a sensible thing, fun entirely optional.

Well, I got it 50% right and took the optional, enter this 2005 MR2 Roadster:

Needs some bits sorting, but nothing major. Will see what reveals itself in the coming months!

Previous owner stated it doesn't burn oil as is common for 1ZZ's, but thats pretty much impossible to ascertain on a test drive. Need to run it for a while and see what its saying.

Looks tidy, prefer the SW20 or even an AW11 but these are still cheap enough for a fun project. Great value.

Next is a K20, then a rotrex super charger ;)

You can still get an early model with MOT that needs some cosmetic bits for under a grand.

K20 would be nice, but the plan is to fix the MR2 Turbo and sell this next year.

2 grand. Prices are all over the place on these, but for a tidy looking example with all those addional bits like the TTE roll car, exhaust, rear / skirts, and TRD front lip I think it was a very fair price as long as it doesn't throw up too many bills!

£2k is an utter steal for a 55 plate. Where did you find that?

Very nice
Forgot how much I liked them.
Highly tempted to get one, i supposed to be buying an old estate or something for using for the allotment and when we want to avoid throwing rubbish in our decent cars, but one of these is definately tempting

Advertised locally and on eBay. Advertised price was £2300.

Radio didn't work (replaced it, now working), and the 12V socket doesn't work. No voltage at the fuse either so I assume there's a wiring issue somewhere. Needs a new key as the remote one is no good. Clutch doesn't feel amazing but TBH, I think its easily a £3k car with all the little issues sorted so worst case if it does need a clutch, (£100 in parts, £200 to pay someone else to do it if I don't want to do it myself) its not a big deal and still decent value overall.

Do you find that the rear view mirror is in the way of your vision of the road? I took one for a test drive once and had to move my head around the mirror to see traffic coming. And I'm not very tall

Bumping this

Pretty sure I am going to buy one within 6 months.
Ive pretty much given up ordering a new car so thinking to buy one of these

@SonicSW20 if you dont mind me bumping and asking are there any must haves / dont worry abouts from spec
Did you have any old brochures etc

I was inclined to dismiss leather and buy some new seats but I think you can get heated with leather as an option which seems a good call
