Wondering if there is anything major to look out for when buying one of these? It’s the 2.0L Executive model with about 146k, 3 new tyres a couple of months ago and MOT til August. Done about 146k miles so far. Been offered it for under 1k so was hoping its worth a punt at least.

For £1k, who cares? If it starts, turns, stops and there's no smoke, then it's worth a punt.

In our experience....Um.....Can't think of anything xD

Our's is a 2003 2L sport, done 160k miles and only thing that's gone wrong was a few months ago is leaky brake master cylinder.

But of course i'm just one person, but the general consensus, they're very reliable cars.

If it has sat nav, I believe if it breaks you'll lose control of the fan speed as you use the screen to change the speed.

Same motor as my Mrs' CR-V which has been bullet proof for 90k miles so far.
My mate as a 2007 Type-S 2.0 auto which is on something like 140k now and it also has been bullet proof.

As above really - as long as the engine isn't knocking/lumpy and the gearbox is OK that'll be all you'll need. Obviously a long MOT is advantageous too.

The other thing to look at is it's MOT history. If it got 10 advisories last year for bushes and ball joints to be replaced, this year they'll probably be a fail.

Yeah, not a lot. Just the usual used car checks really.

Only thing my dad has had to fix on his is the clutch master cylinder and that was only because the pedal was squeaking.

Very reliable, very dependable cars.

Lower balljoints and weird engine issues.

That was a 2.2 CTDi and so the engine issues etc are irrelevant to the car the OP is looking at.

There aren't really any major common faults with these, they are superbly built out of a factory in Japan. Just inspect everything like you would with any other car, particularly a cheap old high mileage one.
