2006 Events Calendar

We need a Goodwood meet this year i think :D But i'm sure you said you wouldn't be making it this year SDK? Which is just madness!

I'll be going to goodwood this year, i guess you mean festival of speed? It will give me a chance to use my new equipment, and it will be my first time photographing motor sports. Now to read up on panning ;)

I'm going to the British GP two weeks after the Goodwood FOS and so in my view it doesn't make sense to go this year. I'm up for a meet in 2008 though :)

Matt - did you go to any of the Kite Surfing events last year ?

No! I know, i'm really bad :(
I shall try again this year though as there are a few places around here where people go :)

Theres a kite surfing event in cornwall at the end of this month isnt there? Talking of event calendars, whats happened to a 2007 one or arent we having one this year?

EDIT: Question regarding goodwood, and woops, didn't realise this was 2006 :p

Thought i would kick this topic back to life incase people forgot about it!

Any suggestions on what ticket to go for? I've never gone there before with the intention of taking photographs (apart from P&S) and I would like to get some optimal photography positions :p

Just buy a general admission ticket; if you get a grandstand seat then you're effectively stuck in the same place all day. Saturday is slightly better than Friday as more cars run.

Yup, generally I do paddocks and shopping on the Friday, mainly running cars on the Saturday and then the Sunday is spent in paparazzi mode hanging over the fence at the assembly areas.

I think the best photography spot is actually no more - there is a small area in front of the Crossroads grandstand which gives you a view from the exit of turn 1 round Crossroads and off in front of the house. Unfortunately the Crossroads grandstand has become a corporate enclosure this year so it's unlikely there will be access to the front of it. Failing that the spectator banking between turn 1 and Crossroads is good, as is the ground level area right along there. There are some good areas in front of the house but you'll need to fight for a spot though.
