2007WFP Going into Powersave

Hi,

A problem has started to occur with my Dell 2007WFP. I've had it about 9 months now (bought it last summer), and in the past month or two, when I am using the computer the Dell will go into powersave mode with no warning, and the only way to get it to pickup the signal again is to unplug the DVI cable and plug it back in, or restart the computer. I have an HIS X850 XT, and the 2007WFP is connected to the primary DVI output whilst my older generic Dell 17" is connected to the secondary DVI output.

It is always the 2007WFP that goes into powersave mode whilst the 17" remains on. It has only happened about 4 times to me so far, and I would prefer to keep it at that as it can prove rather annoying. The past two times it has happened was whilst playing games (although I think it has done it before whilst running normal apps). I can't think of any reason why this may happen, and I'm hoping someone on these forums may know what is causing this! So, any ideas?

Thanks, Simon.

The more I try and remember the more I think it may have only happened when playing games, but for the sake of it I'll say it happens at any time.

Also it may not be the monitor at all, could be the graphics card or there could be some software to blame. Only reason I posted it in this forum is because it's the most relevant to the problem. So I hope I don't worry you about getting yours as its a beautiful monitor. :p

Edit: Second time it has done it this morning whilst playing Olbivion, maybe the graphics card is under too much strain/overheating so it shuts down one of the outputs? I don't know if graphics cards can do this but its my only possible explanation so far.

Hmm, this just occurs when I'm in the middle of a game. It's as if I have left the PC, and am touching nothing so the monitor goes into powersave mode. All very strange. I've had enough PC troubles thus far, I hope this is easily cureable!

mark1, yup I just checked the power options and the monitor is set to never turn off, as whenever I plan on going away from the monitor for a while I turn them off, sort of a habit now.

Thanks mrk I will try that out and see if it has any effect. I can't imagine it is the monitor because this problem has only started occuring recently compared to how long I have had the monitor.

mrk did you know if that issue was present when playing games only or in general? Because it just occured when I wasn't playing a game (still using DVI), so not really sure what to think now.
