2008 Half way highlights

Deffo MGS4 by 10 country miles, has got to be GOTY.

Other highlights were Mario Kart Wii (2-player online great fun) GTAIV, Ninja Gaiden II, R6V2 (loved Co-Op).

Currently looking forward to Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Fallout 3, was looking forward to Splinter Cell but its gonna have to be seriously special now! LBP, Killzone 2, probably a load more.

GTA 4 was boring, but have really enjoyed NG 2 and Condemned 2.

Some from 2008 that I have not yet tried but would like to are GRID, Army of Two, Dark Sector, Battlefield BC, DMC 4, Viking.

I am really looking forward to Alone in the Dark, Gear of War 2, Force unleashed, Far Cry 2, Dead Space.

Others with potential or that may or may not be out this year are Too Human, Fable 2, Fallout 3, Alan Wake, Infinite Undiscovery... there are other possibles that I think will get pushed to next year.

Favourite Game of the year so far has to be GTA4, like most people it did start to feel like a chore 10 or so hours into but once you get past that it starts to get a lot better and I really enjoyed all the way through to the end of the story and still play it a bit now.

Have moved onto a Rockband and now and really enjoying it and also got RSV2 to go through too

Yes, he works for Microsoft :)

All his images are hotlinked from a competitor site (He knows the rules on this, but is very angry there are a lot of pro mgs4/ps3 threads, so in his rush to create a thread bigging up his 360 games he must have overlooked this :D).

rp2000
Edi: Inoshishi makes the same mistake in a rush to bigup the ps3/psp games :)

One tries to do a neutral thread and you get this. I honestly thought a thread talking about gaming highlights wouldn't end up with the usual drivel.

and...

Lost Odyssey ~ 360
Boom Blox ~ Wii
Viking 360/PS3
GTA IV ~ 360/PS3
Bully PS2/Wii/360

.. hardly seems like a propaganda piece. I honestly believe all 3 console are having a great year; not sure over the need for antaganism and derailment.

I used these images as I it made the post better to look at (imo); I also used images from this site on the game of the year thread (where I deliberately picked an even split of PS3/360 game images to avoid fan boy accusations ~ like this one). **Mod, if they're breaking the rule say asap and I'll remove them.

Kinda OT, but - is it easy/possible to get into MGS4 if you haven't played the previous ones?

I've never played a MGS game before and am really enjoying MGS4 :)

Highlights this year so far would be:

Burnout - as it was the first game to actually run identical on both consoles (360/PS3)
MGS4 - It still amazes me how good it looks and sounds + the fact that you feel like you have total control over Snake, there are no limitations to what he can do.
Pro Evo on the Wii due to being the best version this generation even tho it's not the best looking.

Dissapointments:

Devil May Cry
GTA4

Both being far to repetative and showing little to no innovation from previous versions.

Looking forward to LBP & Banjo even though I don't have a 360 if Banjo is as good as previous versions I'll buy one just for this game :)

I've owned a PS3, Wii and 360 since there releases but none of them had produced a game that rang the next gen in for me, until Devil May Cry 4 was released that is... Ok ok it wasnt anything massively different from the previous titles BUT its still a working formula with fantastic graphics and great scenes.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the winner so far this year though, great tweaks in gameplay, cutscenes(although huge) are amazing and graphics are the best on any console...

Great games this year:
Metal Gear solid 4
Devil May Cry 4
Mass Effect

Dissapointments:
GTA4
Lost Odessey
Age of Conan(PC)

Great games in the far distance are Resident Evil 5(OMFG I cant wait for resi) and WOW:WotLK for PC

I really, really enjoyed GTA4 - both in single player and multiplayer. I thought the story was excellent and I've never experienced a gaming environment that seemed so alive before. I've completed it once and I'm very tempted to play through it for a second time.

Bully was good fun too. A few glitches but the actual game was really well executed. It's ironic that it's taken Rockstar to prove that sandbox games don't have to be about killing people and gangsters.

I also really enjoyed Ghost Squad on the Wii. It's a very silly game but it only cost £15 so I can forgive it. It's got a surprising amount of longevity for a lightgun game.

Also, Advanced Wars: Days of Ruin. I didn't think the AW series could get any better but they've proven me wrong. Simply outstanding.

Personally, I've been disappointed with Nintendo's output. I found Super Mario Galaxy to be incredibly boring, but then I've not been a fan of any of the 3D mario games.

I also thought Mario Kart Wii was the worst Mario Kart game yet. A massive disappointment after the superb DS version. Thankfully it's still a whole lot of fun in multiplayer.

Im going to go with the group and say that MGS 4 has been my best game thus far this year. I basicly played it for 18 hours straight only stopping to sleep eat and tidy up my room a bit. No game thus far this gen has kept me hooked for that long.
