Well,

I'm due sometime in the near future to get some additional money in my sweaty mitts.

Just checked my order history, and the core of my current system was bought 21 Oct 2009.....

With just upgrades to SSD for OS and a R290 GFX card, it's served me well.

With a budget of £1500 to £1700, i'm looking at my options.

So far, I'm looking at something that will run BF5 with ease.

The 1070TI looks to be good money for the performance and as for CPU, not too fussed as the Intel Q9550 was the first intel chip i had since a Pentium III. Had AMD in between as they were good money.

Will also look at bundle deals when the money hits the bank.

Free 480 SSD and free copy of FarCry 5 will Aorus

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £649.46 (includes shipping: £10.50)

GPU, option of Vega 64 for £450 with 3 free games from AMD or 1070ti from Zotac with free games.

Good PSU to drive it as well

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,010.07 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Or, wait for Monday GPU wise as next gen Nvidia should make a show

There's a big jump from Quad Core to 2nd gen + intel in both IPC and IMC performance

Yes. i'll be needing a new monitor, currently have a 24" dell ultrasharp with some burn-in...

Looking for something maybe a little bigger plus vesa mounting. £200-£300.

bring you at the top end but get 4 free games in total - could keep your PSU but wouldn't recommend it , not if its past warranty

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,697.14 (includes shipping: £15.30)

Thanks orbitalwalsh,

monitor a little over budget and no mention of vesa mounting.

true, was just going with max £1700 budget

VESA mount

1080p model still with high hz and £200 cheaper then nvidia g-sync 1080p!

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...rved-widescreen-gaming-monitor-mo-007-ms.html

cheaper but still a high quality PSU can be used to drive another £20 off

problem with above, you haven' got a cooler for the i5 9600k , nor a screen at which you are looking at £550+

Upgraded to Aorus board so have USB C internal port.
Changed case to Base 700 that comes with free Drak rock 4 cooler. also have USB C port and RGB
swapped 500gb nvme to 1tb Sata 3 SSD .
lower PSU as 550w would in theory be fine as min, also if going £124 there are better units like Whisper that is Tier One and not 2 like the Corsair.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,428.94 (includes shipping: £14.10)

cheapest G-sync 1440p , ones 24" which i find personally is to small, other 27"- both TN panels

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £922.58 (includes shipping: £12.60)

intel+ vega +1440p 75hz freesync screen... hard not to give some thought

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,604.33 (includes shipping: £22.50)

also comes with 5 Free games, Black Ops 4, Killing Floor 2 (because of retail cpu not oem) and then with Vega; Res Evil 2, The Division 2 & Devil May Cry5 . thats like £220 woth of free games!

I have the AOC G2790PX 27" 1920x1080 TN 144Hz FREESYNC Widescreen LED Monitor arriving today.

As an OEM package, i assumed the i5 came with a stock cooler.

Yes, don't use it !!!!!!! Might as well leave it naked and fan it cool yourself !

It's same price as OEM but get 3 year warranty and free games including COD4

27" is on the large size for 1080p. You'll find you'll need to turn up filters to max as the pixels will be large and make objects jagged , best thing you can do is upscale to 1440p. Specially if your rocking Vega GPU

i agree, been procrastinating over it. It seems that a Vega 56 is good value and would suit my needs.

vega ages like fine wine , im a fan of rx/vega + freesync for pricing were as nvidia do lay down the POWER and early driver updates. but AMD have done well and again Vega now at 4k does extremely well , even 1440p vega 56 can catch gtx 1070ti which technically should have more brute strength
