Nah, the vast majority do, get driven without incident. It hits the news because people like to laugh at perceived successful sorts bending expensive stuff, sad but true.

mainly this,,
have a quite wealthy friend who drives normally the most battered looking cars you have ever seen (wing mirrors held on with duct tape etc)
His reasoning was that if he drove around in a Merc or BMW, peoples jealousy makes them avoid his business (takeaway)

I think that is partly the reason the other part is that he is tight than a ducks backside :D

There already is, kind of.

You can't ride a powerful motorcycle until you are above a certain age and have passed your test on a machine above a certain capacity and power.

True!

But who decides what power and capacity thresholds are? Are they continually updated?

Can't see how that would feasibly scale to the car market though. Loads of hot hatches have more power than some supercars of previous decades. What then?! What happens when you have low capacity engines producing more power than some larger engines?

Not least of all that total output is less important than BHP/Tonne.

We reach 18 and we are classed as grown up. We can't keep adding health and safety to protect the world from the 10 idiots.

If only the ratio of idiot:notidiot was better than it currently is!

I think Darwin awards need more social media advertising.

But that is exactly what does happen :/

That's why we have warnings on coffee cups bought in Cafés. So people know not to tip it on their crotch.
