As title really - the router (VM Superhub) in my new place is in the opposite side of the house to where my pc is, and tomorrow i'll be calling in Overclockers for either Powerline or a wireless adapter - question is which would work better?

Both are similarly priced, which is most likely to be solid and speedy?

If it makes any difference, when i scan for wifi using my phone i get 3 or 4 results, so not an overly crowded area. Many thanks for your replies/suggestions.

I'd just go with the 500mbs, probably cost you under £10 more and at least will be future proof. Especially if your home wiring isn't up to scratch, my mate has the 200mbs and 60MB and he couldn't max his ones out at his wiring was old. The 500mbs worked fine and now he is on 100MB it still works fine.

Likewise I'd go powerline over wireless for fixed equipment where it's not very close to the router.

I use TP Link 200mbps Powerline efforts for my VM (on 60Mb) works a treat, pings and speeds as if it were hooked up via cat5.

I think I may have to adopt the Powerline approach. My Samsung devices are very tempremental on the Wireless network atm.

Is there a recommended maximum number of devices connected to one Powerline plug (as I am short of plug points too)? Or do they just share the 200mbps bandwidth on demand?

You won't get 200Mbps in practice, I get around 100Mbps between my PC and router, and 85 between my router and PS3/360/Sky box. The Ethernet ports on them are often 10/100 anyway.

You can just connect a switch to the power line adapter if you need more than one device connected to it.
