2010 27" iMac vs Xbox 360 Target Display Mode

Trying to setup the 360 for GTA, but my only screen available is my mid 2010 27" iMac. I bought a mini displayport to hdmi cable so I can plug my xbox into the iMac (It's going through an Elgato Game Capture HD). However no matter how many restarts and cable swapping I do, I can't get it into Target Display Mode using CMD+F2.

Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

I think this only works with mini dp to mini dp.

I had it working on my 2009 iMac but that was from a graphics card mini dp.

I had an 2009 iMac and a sony blu ray player and I used a powered hdmi to mini display port adapter and it would only work when I had the bd player set to 720p.

The Mini-DP to HDMI cable has electronics in it that convert the signal one way. It won't turn a Mini-DP socket into an HDMI input.

The Belkin adaptor looks like the best option.
