I know this is just a sub-section of an online PC part retailer but I'm not a member on any other forums bike related so thought I'd ask here before signing up else where to enquire.

I'm going to look at a 2010 this weekend. It's mileage is around 13,000miles.

In the manual for a ZX-6R it says the following for Valve clearance inspection.

Why would those in Canada and the US need it done at 15,000 miles and those else where not need it inspected until 26,250 miles?

Slightly confused TBH and I defiantly don't want to end up buying a lemon that'll cost me a fortune in servicing just months after buying it (if I like it).

Any advice much appreciated

They have tighter emission regulations than here that could be why

26k is about right for valve check,I had my 98 zx6r done at 18k

Probably emissions at a guess. I know that the ZX6R from that era (I had one) has extra gubbins on the Californian model so I'd expect that has something to do with it.

It will be emissions related, I wouldn't worry about it until 25k+ and even then its too difficult to check clearances yourself.
Speaking of which it needs doing on mine....

I think it is. My 2005 has similar distinctions, the US model is checked at 15k and European at 20k. Mine is at 16k now and I'll probably check it when I have some spare time, mainly for optimum performance's sake.

Ah okay that has certainly put my mind at ease. I've just got a message from the seller and he had the full service done last May so shouldn't need doing for a while. Phew.

Thank you for your time guys :)
