Hi guys,

I'm looking at booking accommodation for next years Spa GP which will be part of a bigger European trip and i've got a few questions i hope you can help me with.

Does the F1 administration have a deadline for releasing the 2011 race schedule, does anyone know when the dates are likely to be announced?

Has anyone got any experience of staying in Spa, the prices seem to be around 100 euros per night for someplace nice which is fine, is it possible to stay in Francorchamps and walk to the track or would you need to book track parking too?

Whats parking in Francorchamps like? I will have a new car by then which is likely to attract a little attention if parked on the road so don't want it to get damaged.

My plan is to book tickets for Eau Rouge if that makes a difference to the answers.

Cheers,

F*

Normally you'll get a provisional calendar in October/November time which then gets rubber stamped at the World Motorsport Council meeting in December.

It's a real pain that they can't get their backsides in gear and announce the calendar years in advance, especially since most of the circuits have multi year contracts. I'm in the same sort of boat as you but I'm interested in when Goodwood is going to be, I've actually ended up block booking 6 consecutive weekends and I'll cancel the ones I don't need.

I stayed about an hour or so drive away from the circuit two years ago and then parked up in one of the main designated parking areas (which were basically fields). There was a lot of parking in Francorchamps from what I remember, just a little further out. The circuit itself is massive, so you're going to do a shedload of walking anyway.

Looking at that map in the above link, I remember parking around pin A or B first time, then parking right at the south of the circuit the second time, as the traffic was a hell of a lot better and you parked right at the back of the circuit.

If it's anything like the last couple of years, the race will be very late August or first weekend in September.

A "leaked" calaneder is out there already. I would wait for an official release though, sometime around November. I too am thinking about going to Spa next time. Didn't realise it was so close tbh (my rubbish geography skills :p )!

26-27-28 August 2011 according to the leaflets that were being handed out on entry to the circuit.

We are in exactly the same boat, ideally we would like to be able to book hotels etc now, but obviously we cant.

As this is will be our first time going to a Grand Prix we really dont know the best way to go about it all.

all we know is that we are driving, will be getting the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge, and stopping in a hotel.....we dont know any specifics at all :-(

any advice is greatly appreciated from those who have been to Spa before.

also according to the leaflets that were handed out in the circuit to us if you book before 31st October there is quite a decent discount on prices, maybe 15-20% discount, cant find a copy of the map as they disintegrated in my hand at the slightest bit of moisture....

 Won't be long to wait at all. I hate how Bahrain is the first race though . But at least Brazil is in its rightful place :D

Agree. Australia should be the opener. Always loved the parties there - and the occasional grand prix parties held at uni and the few years after that. Australia was great for that.
