Hi all,

I just need some advice on my late dads car. It is a 2011 Fiesta 1.2 iirc. He passed away back in February and it has been sitting in the driveway at my mums since. It will be transferred to my wife in a months time.

Today I was cleaning the car out and when I finished, I used the key fob to lock the doors. I heard the mechanism kick in however I could open the passenger door via the handle. I tried the driver side door and it was the same. I then locked the driver door manually however the rear doors weren't locked but the front driver and passengers were. I'm confused as hell and I am not a car person so I haven't a clue just yet. I am not keen on currently having the rear doors openly accessible whilst the front doors are 'locked'.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I am thinking the battery could be low but I am not sure. Cheers all.

have you tried double clicking the lock button on the fob, unlock everything and then double click.

or double click unlock and then press lock etc....

the reason i say is because some cars have a slightly more advanced fob, if you can get hold of the manual or find it online then it may say in there.

sorry i cannot be more help, maybe someone here knows the right answer

Having been sat a few months I would see if the battery is any good. Does it start? If so then it'll be good enough to work the locks.

On this age of Fiesta, single click of lock button should lock all doors, double click will deadlock the car (so that it can't be opened even from the inside handles - e.g. if a a thief breaks a window and then tries to reach in and use the door handle)

Assuming the battery is ok - i.e. if it starts, check on the dash as to whether it thinks any doors are still open (or even if the interior light is still on with the doors closed), as could be a sensor that has failed

My 2010 Focus is keyless -if you lock the doors -wait a few seconds then you can open the doors without pressing button - Lock the car then put fob down a good distance from car then go try doors -
This did the wife on her first outing on her own -she locked it then pulled door handle to check it was locked and it opened because keys were in her handbag.

I forgot to update this thread. I’ll be heading back to my mothers tomorrow morning so I’ll try what you stated DXP55, cheers.

I was there last week and saw the manual mentioning that there is a small toggle switch on the side of each door you can turn with the key and then manually shut the door to lock it. I tried that and all was good, so I left it alone and forgot to check and start the car to check the battery level.

Cheers mate, it was this. Can't believe my late father never mentioned it to me!
The user manual for the car doesn't even mention it.
