OCUK,
My 2011 MBP is occasionally making strange noises, sounding like something small is occasionally getting stuck in a fan. My first thought was that the HDD was knackered, but if a HDD was making regular noises like that, surely it'd be dead by now?
The noise is coming from somewhere vaguely central and I can't replicate it, it just happens now and then. Once every 5-10 mins. It seems to be coming from (I estimate) the F, G, V, B area.
The disk drive always has made a noise if it had a disk in it and you moved the laptop when it was accessing data on the disk, but this is a different noise. There is no disk in the drive either.
One of the rubber feet is missing, so my guess is that a small piece of FOD has got inside via that small hole and is now obstructing the fan (maybe?).
Any suggestions?
I plan on removing the back of it to investigate tonight, but wondered if there were any ideas in case I can't see anything obvious.
