2011 MBP Temperatures

I recently got a 13" with the Core i5 processor, 8GB ram, and 500gb hdd.

Below is a shot of my temps while playing TF2. Is the CPU one really bad? I'd rather not melt the thing.

The keyboard, trackpad and palm rest remain cool throughout hence why I never really noticed how hot the CPU was getting as on the old laptop, the whole thing was roasting.

88c is still a **** take regardless. Though in my personal opinion gaming on laptops is stupid. Unless they're specifically designed to have games played on them.

I only play this casually. I'm not a 'gamer' in the traditional sense. This one game is all I own as I've been playing it with my mates back home.

You're still gaming on a machine that isn't intended to be used as a gaming machine. I certainly wouldn't think of gaming on my 13" MBP because I'm aware of just how warm it can get doing ordinary multitasking.

Mine is significantly cooler than the old laptop at any given task so for me general multitasking is a step in the right direction.

Anyone have an answer?

88 is ~fine. (Don't keep at that for too long, ie: all day) Over 100 is the time to worry. Although you have maxed out the fans there... so there is no more stopping it if it gets hotter.

Thanks, highest I've seen is right on 90c. Believe the most I've played in one sitting was 3 hours but I tend to lose interest before that.

As soon as I stop it drops back down to low 40's.

I usually put a book under the back of my laptop to keep it nice and cool, see what that does to your temps.

As for those saying that you shouldn't game on a laptop, the machine should be able to take maximum stress for long periods of time without overheating (not that I am saying it is overheating) so it's fair enough expecting to be able to game on it.
