Thought this would be an ideal thread to make to discuss and update everyone on player injuries and recovery ect.

Not sure on other teams injury list but UTD's list is looking troublesome.

Jones - 1 month
Smalling - 2 months
Evans - Not match fit
Rio - 1-2 months?
Fletcher - no return date

and Vidic is just back after 8+ months out.

Other long term injuries

Micah - 2 months
Parker - 1 month
Sagna - 2 months
Wilshire - 2 months

I think for this thread to not take away from the other discussion threads we should keep it primarily on player injuries and nothing else.

If this thread seems abit excessive, I have no problem with a mod removing it.

Still nothing on the UTD site about Rio's injury. I think SSN are going to be reporting on it soon.

This is just such a blow. When was the last time we had a proper back 4?

Neville - Rio - Vidic - Evra

That defence put fear into every team.

Iniesta picked up a leg muscle strain playing in a World Cup qualifier for Spain against Georgia on Tuesday and is out for 10-15 days, Barca said on Wednesday.

Update on UTD's injuries.

RVP and Kagawa are fine and will be in the squad for the Wigan game, Fletcher to also be inculded.

Speaking about injuries to United’s official website, Ferguson said: "On the injury front, everyone's fit, apart from the ones we know about - Jones and Smalling.

“Jones was a bad blow for us. He got an injury in training last weekend.

“He'll be out for 8-10 weeks. We expect Smalling to be back training inside a month. But with Jonny Evans now back we're in better shape at centre-back than we were a couple of weeks ago.”

Several players, including Kagawa, have returned to United after travelling long distances, but Ferguson is hopeful they will all be fine for the match.

He continued: "You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks - we had Chicharito [Javier Hernandez], [Antonio] Valencia and Kagawa.

“They've all done it before, although with Shinji we don't know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he'll be okay.”

Another player who will be available to play in Darren Fletcher who has not played a competitive match for United since December due to a chronic bowel condition, but after several appearances for the Under-21s and increased activity in training, Ferguson has named him in the squad.

“Darren's training well and played in the Reserves on Monday night,” he noted. “The next step is when we can involve him in a game in the first team.

“He's in the squad tomorrow, simply because I think it will give him a boost. It's a chance to progress.

“At this moment in time everything's going fine for him. We understand the condition he has to deal with - that can change but hopefully he's managed to conquer it in terms of his diet and how he handles it.

“Things are going well at the moment.”

Thats pretty much it for vidic/rio. Fergie cannot rely on him and Rio anymore with their injury problems.

Another season full of injuries it looks like.
