What do you think of this BMW X3 for sale, worth it or should I just save up for something better/newer?

I'd be going from a 2014 Focus 1.6 TDCI Titanium Navigator.

Damn, is that what they cost these days? Bought a fairly well specced 2013 X3 20d (auto gearbox, pro nav, xenons, heated seats etc) back in 2018 for my wife and paid £9.3k for it then.

I’d hold off. In my experience they are decent cars and ours has been reliable with no expense beyond servicing in the last 4 years/40k miles, but 16k is a lot of money for a 10 year old car. It doesn’t even have pro nav either and the small screen looks silly.

Congrats on the win by the way :) As mentioned, save your winnings up for a few months and get something better.

Just wait a few months for your winnings to roll in and buy something decent then.

If I'd just won £10k a month, a decade old 2 litre diesel X3 would not be anywhere near the top of my list of stuff to waste money on :p

Nice
Can I take 1 month of you ? You can keep all the others

I'd be looking at leasing a new car (probably electric) with the situation you're in.
Save some cash and when lease is over you could buy something nice outright.

Unless you're not that into cars and just want something to get around in?

Ideally I'd like something new or newish, smart but normal type every day car. I'm not really into super cars even with the money I'll have coming in.

You don't need to save up to buy a better car, you can very easily just get finance.

I'd go against the prevailing opinion in here, obvs this sub-forum is full of car enthusiasts so the notion of buying an ordinary car when you can afford so much more is going to be bizarre for some but it's perfectly fine. (I know a hedge fund manager who drives a little Fiat and a venture capitalist who owns an old golf, they're both multi-millionaires).

I'd perhaps frame any new threads re: potential car purchases along the lines of I'm only budgeting X-Y for a car and have Z requirements is this car a good deal in the X-Y price range to try and get people to evaluate the car and its value relative to other cars in that range/budget rather than their personal opinions on the merits of whether you personally should be spending X-Y on a car.

I think I would know what I'd buy if I had some decent money coming in every month, but I don't know what a none car person would buy? All I do know is that you shouldn't buy that X3 :p

It really depends on what you like, but a ease is a good shout, something newish, comfy, with roof inside and some nice tech? You'll have to have a look around and see what you like. If you like the BMW X3, have you looked at an XC60, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC/GLE?
