Came with the standard 4GB, want to upgrade this to 8GB. I have a nightmare with Corsair RAM on my 2010 model (two lots of faulty RAM) so would like to avoid if possible unless its the most suitable.

Seen OCUK have Corsair 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 1.5v but the Cruical memory checker brings up CL11 stuff at 1.35v for my model.

Can anyone recommend the right stuff to go for, or advise from experience?

Any SODIMM DDR3 will work, speeds and voltage will change to suit whatever the motherboard supports.

Crucial seem to be popular with Apple products, and they are generally pretty great anyway.

Brill cheers. Didn't want to go for 1.5v stuff in case the slots would only chuck out 1.35v for instance and nothing more.

Definitely like the idea of going for Crucial in this case

Ended up going with the standard crucial 8gb kit, all being well should be here tomorrow.

Never had such issues as before with the corsair stuff which put me right off. Was tempted by 16gb but feel I won't ever use it and would in effect be a waste of money.

Thanks for letting me know it works fine though :)

Good stuff, is a much wiser choice to upgrade yourself than pay Apple when ordering the machine.

SSD next :) ?

Absolutely, would not pay to have it already installed when buying the machine as costs far too much.

Will be an SSD in time with an Optibay and get rid of the superdrive. Will mean I will have a 2nd superdrive spare as well!

Isn't the RAM on the apple website like £280 for 8GB? :s

Something like that
