2012 Sebring 12 Hours

Audi's are so much quicker, pointless trying to compete really. Such great racing sports car racing, just need competition to make it worthwhile though and right now, there is none for Audi.

Well that was rather a wild ending; what is it with these GT classes and exciting finishes?! If I've got this straight: -

Hand (RLL/BMW) and Beretta (AF Corse/Ferrari) were fighting for the GT class win. On the penultimate lap, they lapped Bruni in the other AF Corse car. Somehow, Bruni gets past Beretta and sends one up the inside of Hand into turn 3, sending him off the track but giving Bruni a puncture. Already running wide to make way for prototype traffic, Beretta spins to avoid Hand, which lets Magnussen (Corvette) take 2nd. Hand gets back on track and hunts down Bruni, believing Beretta had hit him. Determined to get ahead he plans a do-or-die manoeuvre at turn 17, but he gets past easily (and wins) as Bruni has picked up and advertising board somewhere.

Sounds about right :D The end of the last race last season was insane too, think it was Laguna Seca, Ferrari was 3rd, stole the lead on the final lap then broke down on the final straight iirc, rolling in 3rd with no power, the ends of these they really do go all out!

Yeah, the prototype classes have got a bit dull. The GT classes usually make up for it though...

...and looks like they did :D

Missed this live, Highlights are on Motors tomorrow though I think.

I agree it's good racing, but I grew up in the last of the Group 5/6 and all through the Group C era, I want big bangers not 911's and Ferrari's that look like road cars when I got to see sports cars. I want something that looks and goes miles quicker than my road car, I would also love to see the worlds best F1 drivers popping over to race them too now and again, that would be great.

Actually, I want Group C again :(

So it was Bruni fighting with Hand all along; Beretta was second on the road to the sister AF Corse car. That's a poor move from Bruni in an otherwise great GT race. If that was for the lead it'd still be harsh, but he was about 100 laps down!

Although it wouldn't be the first time an ALMS GT race finished with a bump.
