2013 Le Mans 24 Hours

I watched all of it and enjoyed most of it, it's a shame toyota couldn't push the audis a bit harder and make a true race of it but there was still excellent racing in the rest of the classes.

Congratulations to Strakka for a race well fought with a ill car for most of the trip.

And commiserations to all at Aston Martin, must have been a brutally tough weekend that sadly ended with a result hampered by the weather lottery, but it was nice to see a Aston cross the line the same time as the race winners.

I don't know what it was like for anyone else but when I heard the statement read out on Radio lemans I felt ill and almost turned the race off but iam glad I stuck with it.

Reasonable race. Over 5 hours lost to safety cars though. I believe it was a new record of number of safety cars, length of safety car time and strangely least retirements. Next year should be better. Audi, Porsche, Toyota amongst other LMP1's

Kinda my thoughts to - little disappointed for Aston's result. As you say, next year looks promising if the LMP1 looks like that (I'm guessing Peugeot were scheduled to race this year, given the number allocation).

We also might get a DeltaWing type car next year from garage 56: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108176

They need to rethink the safety car system, the current method reinforces 'yellows breed yellows' by having 3 groups of backed up cars going upto full speed on cold tyres and tricky conditions, it also disrupts racing heavily by splitting competing cars up and adding 1 minute+ gaps which with so many safety car periods ruined the race for several cars.

I watched another race with the purple flag system where the drivers are trusted to hold position at a fixed slow pace it will just need very heavy penalties for any who try to make up a few seconds.
