Im currently looking at a 2013 amg sport plus c250 to replace a company car (64 a3 sportsback) and taking allowance. I get the Interior lacks in comparison to the 3 series of similar age though I'm not a fan of them.
I've got 10-12k to spend, more if i sell the gto but it would need to fill the void that leaves. anything else worth looking at?

The only real requirements are 4 doors, decent boot space for a pram and reasonable mpg but not the end of the world if it replaces the gto

The wife wants a kuga, any reasons there a bad idea?
Cheers

I have a W205 C class, not a 204 as you're looking at, but you may struggle getting a pram in and out easily. The boot space itself is fine, but because it's a saloon it can be awkward with larger objects. I'd definitely give it a try before you set your heart on one.

My mate had one for 3 years or so, and recently traded it in for a GLC, which has the same interior really. Never likes either of them personally. Too much plastics all over the centre console. Both his are that black though, so just made it feel cheap to me. I was driving a 5 series at the time though, so that probably didn't help. Actually, just occurred to me, was 2013 were they changed? My mate had both, and both interiors didn't appeal to me. The above was regarding the newer one, but the older one, with all the buttons, looked like an old Astra interior to me. It also wasn't particularly nice, to me. But then I don't really like Mercedes interiors, current E-class(+) excluded.

As a car though, they were ok. I drove them a few times. His older model one was a C220CDI and the newer one a C250CDI. They went well enough, and he got decent enough fuel economy out of his. The gearbox wasn't a patch on the one in my 5 series, I felt, but it might have just been because it was mated to a 4-pot diesel rather than the 6.

If it's for ease of getting prams in and out and stuff like that, I'd look at the estate personally. Or the Kuga is probably a better idea as a family car. Don't underestimate the convenience of the higher seating position when it comes to getting small kids in and out of cars. It was surprising how much easier the daily duties were in our Alhambra when compared to our 5 series, and that was a big part of why we sold the 5 series. Now the kids are a bit older though, the 5 series begins to appeal again.

My old man has a W204 C class and it’s pretty useless for getting a baby’s pram in (as he’s recently discovered since the birth of my granddaughter) although I do recall my sister having an f10 525d when my youngest nephew was still in a pram and that coped with all the necessities with ease, the f11 - which they had for a while for whatever reason whilst still owning the f10 - even more so.

Cheers for the replys, I gather the BMWs at this price are just newer/better in most ways :D they just don't do anything for me though, tempted by a high mile w205 as there are a few in this price or just over and I gather they are worlds apart from the dated w204 interior. Not a huge fan of there exterior personally.

The pram isn't used all that often so I don't mind a struggle once it a while. It pretty much fills the a3 at the moment so anything above that is a bonus.

I have a w204 estate. 2008 so the prefacelift.

It’s quite numb to drive (my other car is an e46 convertible). I only bought it because we now have a baby.

The drive is comfortable . Sound insulation is good. Fairly economical on the motorway.

Boot size is excellent the pram only takes about half the boot so you can actually carry other things
