2013 - Morba's Cake fed Strongman Log.

Yeah, its nice to be training with people with a common goal tbh. It helps with motivation and drive for sure.
Definitely better than the years spent alone training, with no goal or clue about what I really wanted to be doing lol

**** deadlift session:

warmups
60kgxlots
110x10
160x10
200x5 - wow this was hard, felt very heavy
220x1 - dieing
230x1 - horrible horrible horrible
200x7

GHRs
5x5

Incline log press
70x10
90x10
110x8
120x5
130x1
140xf
120x5
120x7

Thoughts:
Back felt tired and weak tonight. My pulling was crap, rubbish and generally ****.

Didn't squat this week, still not recovered from the week before. Age is killing me :(

Saturday events session:
We decided to pay a visit to a local'ish gym that has started getting some strongman kit and to visit a few friends. So off to a gym in hartcliffe we go (anyone who knows Bristol will no doubt have heard of hartcliffe).

Log press:
Small home made log, couldnt get used to it.
Warm ups
Lots of strict as cleaning was hurting my knee.
65x10
80x5
100x3
105x1
115x1
120xf - log sits different to ours as its much thinner.

Car deadlift:
350kg tyre on frame x 10
+ people x 5
Rear of some Jeep thing x 5

Then the rain came which limited what we could do, so went inside and tried to do some DB press.
40x1
60x1
70xf

Max apollons axle:
60x5
80x1
100x1
110x1
115x1 - PB
120x1 - PB

Thoughts:

My knees started hurting on the log press which is a bad start :(
Only one other person was able to deadlift the jeep, that seemed really heavy even though it was side handle frame.
Max axle - the axle felt lovely and my knee was being nice all of a sudden. 120 was easier than 115! Ran out of time to try 125.

Overhead day tomorrow, hope I'm recovered lol. Will do strict stuff to save my knees a bit. Maybe some bands. Also maybe some bench!

Haha :D
That actually puts its into perspective quite well. 120kg floor to overhead is a heavy weight that most people either can't squat or deadlift!

/feels strong :D

Overhead strict night

warmups
axle strict press, clean first one press rest from chest

40xlots
60xlots
80x10
90x5
95x5
100x5
105x3
105x2
90x5
95x5 - someone video'd this one, i'll try and drag it from FB
95x5 - horrible clean

incline log press
70x10
90x10
110x3
120x3
130x2
140xf
130x3
dropset:
130x4, 110x5, 90x5, 70x6

Thoughts:
my knees were hating me all day today, my cleans were done from an almost horizontal back as getting my ass down further hurt. Great!
Having said that, I full cleaned everything and only the last set became messy.
Happy with my strict pressing, lots of volume at a high percentage of my 1RM.
incline log was hard as my tris were tiring, got some good volume in though. 140kg would have went if i hadnt done so much already I think.
The dropset BURNED, my tris were on fire afterwards. Everyone gave it a go and hated me for the suggestion of it afterwards :D

Training is sporadic at the moment. A house of illness and some lethargy from me doesn't help.

Deadlifts:
warmups
60x10
60x10
110x10
150x6
150x6
200x5
230x1
240x1
240x1
240x1

BORs:
70x10
110x8
110x8
110x8

GHRs
5x to failure (6 or 7 reps each set)

Thoughts:
Wasn't interested too much in training as was going to be alone for a session, not done that in a while.
200 went up easy, 230kg was simple, singles at 240kg were tasty. Felt good.

Some light BORs to get used to them again, need to be doing 140+ for good reps imo, start concentrating on upper back again a little.

Mirin' the lifts Morba! Been thinking about adding Push Presses on to my OHP days too. Although im new to them, what do you think for overall shoulder strength? :)

They are great for overall shoulder strength, especially if you clean them from the floor first :)

Sunday events:
Missed out on training with everyone else as was busy so popped to the unit in the afternoon with my boy.
FREEZING cold and run out of gas.
Headed outside to do some farmers walk:

20kg x 20 metres (10m drop and turn)
60x20m
60x20m
80x20m
100x20m

By this point I was shivering and my hands felt like ****, so gave up.

Wanted to do some yoke but it was too damn cold tbh.

Headed back in side and did some axle floor to overhead:

60kg
3x10 fast.

this screwed me over and made me realise just how hard Grace could be! Need to do that, maybe tomorrow as im training alone again!

Awesome isn't it :D I need to bump the thread for any other people that want to give it a try lol.

To be fair my movement pattern yesterday was:
Bend at hip (no knee bend)
stiff leg clean to shoulders
strict press

terrible lol.

Might need to get out of work early tonight so that i can go and get some gas!

I have a lot of time for the fact that you got a lot of other people to do grace and still haven't done it.

Keep it up :D

70x8
90x5
90x5
100x3
110x3
110x2
110x2
110x2
110x1f1

40x20 (feel the burn)
60x10
80x8
90x5
90x5
90x5
90x5

Done.

Thoughts:
Bloody freezing so didnt want to do much or be there too long. Cold was affecting my strength as the 110kg doubles felt hard.
No gas and training alone - hard work!

Yup was pretty cold yesterday, I'm sure it makes things harder than it should be!
