So my rMBP is suffering from this and I guess it needs sorting before the warranty runs out in a couple of months. What's the quickest way to do it? No Apple store near me so I'm guessing an independent place certified by apple would be easier? It's my only pc so would rather not be without it for too long.

I replaced got one repaired via pickup and return by booking in directy with Apple, the laptop was returned within a week.

I tend to find 3rd party companies promise a quick return but when they have a parts storage they really do.

That's a lot better than I thought, can you do it online? Been putting it off for ages because the local place said it was a 4+ week turnaround.

EDIT: Apple website doesn't want to let me register it with the date I bought it, 17/10/2013. They have assumed I have an office in my house and want me to fax them the proof of purchase. It should still be in warranty and let me do it right?

In Spain I had an iPad picked up (headphone audio jack problems) and it was returned in a week fixed. That's your best bet if you don't have an Apple store near you.

Scan the receipt and send it to. Them via email.. Should be fine then.. I had that problem with my mbp when trying to register as well.. You should get an email from them in a couple of days

Well the saga continues. I have no receipt but it was bought from argos with the store credit card so there must be some record? Should I even bother trying to raise it as an issue with them? Not sure where to go from here.

Copy credit card statement will do, if they get arsey Argos will be able to provide a copy of the receipt.

The problem is I don't have months to be messed about like I have been historically speaking. It was store credit used, not a credit card or anything. I suppose now it depends on how long Argos take to get me the receipt.

Every other Apple product I've owned hasn't been a problem with the warranty, the ONE time I don't have POP and they want to play silly buggers.

Just out of interest, is the image retention permanent or does it go after each power off?
The reason I ask is we had this problem with 3 27" iMacs that did this when using the same app all day.
Apples response was that this is normal behaviour for IPS based screens. It does go between uses and putting a screensaver on also helped.
There is certainly other third party evidence to back this up.

Just a point to note as you may get the same response for your MacBook.

I used to be able to 'burn in' my old HTC Desire S, for what it's worth. Not managed it on any other LCD though.

It goes away after a reasonably short period, however the time it takes for the image to 'burn in' is also very short, less than 5 minutes on youtube without full screen and then coming to OCUK shows it very badly.
