*** 2014/15 Pre-season Friendly Thread ***

Good training session against a **** poor Milan side and an easy victory.

Lucas had a far better game today and Henderson, Ibe and Sterling all looked good again. Not sure if Lucas will still be here at the start of the season but I'd rather we kept Ibe than send him out on loan again.

Second half was comfortable but we're still looking to get Gerrard on the ball regardless of whether he's got a man on or not. Just because he's the captain and the heart of the team doesn't mean he has to be at the heart of every attack. Luckily our passing was pretty sharp today but against fitter sides in the Premiership we'll get caught out like we did last season.

Edit: Forgot to mention Can, another very impressive performance from him again.

So Marca (Spanish sports paper) photoshopped the crowd to show mostly white shirts rather than red:

... seems so pointless to me. But it's not the first time they've resorted to manipulating images to advance the image of Real Madrid. Last time they removed a defender to make a (correct) offside decision seem unfair.

Yeah. Looking very good at the moment, plus that win was without our two best players, one of whom we look like we might be losing :(

Palace were awful. They caused a few teams problems last season int the EPL but I think this season may result in Pulis' first relegation as a manager. If the opposition keeps the ball on the floor, Palace won't be able to compete.
 
Palace were playing 2 games at the same time yesterday don't forget so a few of their senior players were at Forest Green.:)

Yep, but this was essentially their first team. The others at Forest Green were new signings or being on the cusp of the first team - hence why their two first choice keepers played each half against us.

Cazorla is so so poor down the left. Getting forward there was a great pass inside the fullback but he hesitated before running at it then blasted the cross into the fullback when he should have gone around him. Another ball down the left and the fullback had a painfully easy time beating him and keeping Cazorla away from the ball. Then just now they attacked down that side. Cazorla ran to the half way line then stopped leaving Monreal with 2 on 1. Then Monreal committed himself way to far forward leaving them both to run in and Caz had made no attempt to get back and help or cover for Monreal.

Monreal may need form, or he might just be poo, rarely looks very good for us though. But why we play Cazorla down the left I don't know, he's so so poor on the wing. He can be decent in the middle but he's very poor defensively and not good in the general things like running at a fullback, going around players. We really should sell him and bring in a say young player to cover wide positions.
 
Chelsea were a bit rubbish in that first half. Slow up front and completely reliant on Fabregas to try and spark something.
