I was wanting to get a Mac Mini and a 28" 4k monitor. Looks like the Mac Mini can only do 30Hz. If I am only using it for Office activities such as email, documents, photo editing etc am I going to feel the pain at 30Hz? No games will be played. Was thinking of getting the mid tier model.

Anyone tried it out with Yosemite yet?

It appears to be a limitation of the graphics on the Mini. 4K @ 60Hz needs an Iris Pro 5200 minimum, as used in the 15" rMBP.

The other options Apple offer are the brabantia Mac Pro and the 5k iMac.

The Iris 5100 doesn't have the memory bandwidth for 4K @ 60Hz. Anandtech indicated it needs the extra bandwidth that the eDRAM in Crystalwell (Iris Pro) provides. There's no Crystalwell without quad cores at this time. A Mac mini with a rMBP CPU would be ££££ niche product most likely.
